"Heart of a Bear"
Here's the link to Benjamin Percy reading "Heart of a Bear."
Please write 300-400 words and post by 10am Thursday, April 19th about similarities and differences that resonate between "Heart of a Bear" and that part of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in which the Creature lives next to the cabin and then introduces himself to the human family and human society.
Yarn-Bombing
Follow this link to a cool and very interesting article about a yarny graffiti project in Buenos Aires.
Notice how part of her inspiration was the colorlessness or at least monocoloredness of trees in winter. Makes one think about Luther campus over the winter, not to plant any ideas, especially not through awful puns...

The Many Things of March 8th
First, a blog writing assignment:
It is the year 2013. China and the U.S.A. have both announced plans to go to Mars to establish permanent human colonies, likely to incorporate forms of terraforming the planet. YOU are a top member of the United Nations committee that oversees extra-Earth activities. You are in the planning stage of drafting a document that will regulate all exploration, inhabitation, terraforming of Mars. Generate 3-5 core principles that must be covered by the details within the document to best regulate these future ventures. Though this scenario should be treated as realistic, take your cues from Kim Stanley Robinson's Red Mars as you try to anticipate what must be regulated or not. Please post your core principles with explanation of why you select them, and give some examples of what details will come under them. Approximately 350-400 words, posted by 10:30am, Tuesday, March 8th.
Second, finishing reading Red Mars and come ready to discuss the novel as a whole narrative, now that we've got it all in view.
Third, bring your Essay #1 final version. Please attach your peer-review worksheets to the final version; there is no need to print out my response email.
